JOB FAIRS AND RECRUITMENTS

  • 3/17/25 – NYS OPWDD open interviews at Herkimer Working Solutions from 10:00AM-2:00PM. They are currently recruiting for Direct Support Professionals in Dolgeville, Little Falls, Mohawk, and Ilion. Rate of pay is $24.34/hour to start, minimum requirements are a High School Diploma/GED and a valid driver’s license. 
  • 3/18/25 – Central NY/Mohawk Valley Regional Virtual Career Fair 11:00AM – 2:00PM.  Save the date!
  • 3/21/25 – Oneida County DCFS Employment Division Job Fair from 9:00AM – 12:00PM at the Oneida County Office Building, 800 Park Avenue, Utica, NY 13501.

  • 3/27/25 – In-person Madison County Working Solutions Job Fair from 9:30AM – 11:30AM, located at the 133 North Court Street, Wampsville, NY 13163. 
  • 4/17/25 – One Day Hiring Event at the Rome Alliance Church, 920 Turin St. Rome, NY, from 11:00AM – 1:00PM. Visit www.romejobfairs.org for more information. 
  • 5/6/25 – The Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ State Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany is holding an Open House! Register by April 1st by using the QR code at link.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

  • Struggling to job search in the digital age? Herkimer Working Solutions is hosting free computer training and certification classes from Northstar Digital Literacy. Learn basic computer skills, internet basics, career search skills, Microsoft Word and Excel and more. They have sessions every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month.   • The Women’s Employment and Resource Center is collaborating with Krystal Curley, Program Outreach Specialist I for the NYS Department of Civil Service for a workshop, Demystifying Civil Service Merit System. The workshop will take place March 27, 2025, from 10:30AM – 12:00PM at Empowered Pathways, 502 Court Street, Suite 234 in Utica. Register today at or call (315) 724-1718 ext. 104.
  • Job Corps Information Session 9:00AM – 1:00PM every other Wednesday at the Herkimer County Working Solutions. Job Corps is a federally sponsored training program, offering training opportunities in Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing, Construction, Automotive, and more, all free of charge. Job Corps serves youth ages 16 – 24 and can help with GED, trades training, driving, soft skill training, and transition services. For more information, call Kimberly Dean at (607) 267-1621.   •  Police Academy at SUNY Morrisville! The Madison County Regional Phase I Police Academy is offered through SUNY Morrisville, with the assistance of the Madison County Sheriff's Department and the New York State University Police. It is designed for current civilian or non-sworn New York State residents who are interested in entering the law enforcement field as a police officer in New York State. Although the program does not guarantee admission into a police department, every standard required in a full-time basic police academy applies, including physical fitness, attendance, and academics.   • Empowered Pathways' Women's Employment & Resource Center (WERC) is offering two new workshops this spring. The Job Interview Skills workshops will be presented by their Executive Director, Stephanie Eghigian. One will be held on Tuesday, April 15th and the other on Tuesday, April 29th. Both will be from 9:30AM to 12:30PM. Those interested can choose which date works best for them!
