YouthBuild


YouthBuild will help individuals earn their high school equivalency diploma, gain hands-on construction skills, develop leadership skills and become involved with the local community in a positive manner.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must be a Utica resident between ages of 18-24 and have dropped out of school or be basic skills deficient. You must also be a member of disadvantaged youth population (must meet one) such as a member of a low income family, spent your youth in foster care, spent time as a youthful or adult offender or the child of incarcerated parents, have a disability, or be a migrant youth.

Partner Collaboration

The Workforce Development Board’s YouthBuild grant program provides its participants with essential occupational skills training, and access to local businesses for mentorship, job following, job opportunities, and more. YouthBuild partners often gain access to a pipeline of talent. Partner collaboration with businesses and community organizations supports the mission of the WDB to develop sector strategies that focus resources on high growth industries for our area, including providing skills training for local businesses.

Please Note: We cannot fund or provide services to any male over the age of 18 who has not registered for selective service.

The total cost of this YouthBuild Program is $1.5 million dollars; (100%) funded through a United States Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration grant.
