A Product Resource Specialist services and supports NSI’s internal and external customers through providing product support and technical product assistance. They will educate customers to make informed decisions on selecting the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and Industrial products. This role is responsible for product sourcing, material cross-referencing, product research, material building, and quoting of unadvertised and advertised items to further support selling efforts and increase sales and profitability.
Expectations of the Role:
- Respond to internal and external customer requests for products or services and apply probing questioning techniques to make appropriate product recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales and profitability through providing high level technical support.
- Source unadvertised items through the use of various research tools including the internet, manufacturer literature and making direct phone calls.
- Organize and instruct trainings with internal customers to keep them abreast on product knowledge and current regulations.
- Prepare quotations within the Quoting database with accurate ordering information to include pricing, availability, and ordering requirements and lead time. Make follow-up calls to customers to solicit feedback and answer product and service related questions and obtain the order.
- Track and monitor customer feedback and quote to order conversion ratios to ensure acceptable return on investment.
- Identify trends in product requests and potential product marketing opportunities based on customer feedback and product demand.
- Stay abreast on products, OSHA regulations, technical data and changes in the industrial safety field through training sessions, hands-on training, reading and researching materials.
- Learn regional market trends and requirements and stay knowledgeable on region specific product or service offerings. Identify resources for “niche” product lines or services.
Skills and Experience we like to see:
- One to two years’ related experience and/or training in the safety field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous customer service experience performed at a high level. Phone customer service experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to be organized, analytical, thorough and accurate.
- Exhibits positive professional attitude both internally and with outside vendors.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
