Based in Utica, NY

The Business Services Representative is a semi-autonomous position responsible for programmatic and employer related activities.  Develops and implements agreed upon business outreach plan to meet business goals. Work within the business services team for the achievement of customer satisfaction and long-term employer relationship goals in line with agency values, mission and vision. Individual accountability and work volume will be established through the development of annual objectives, within the framework outlined below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops a strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • Understands current employment trends and adapts to changing economic environment.
  • Develops a focused business outreach plan in conjunction with program managers.
  • Develops long-lasting client relationships through personal attention and follow-up.
  • Adheres to all agency policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.

Generating Leads/Expanding Client Base:

  • Schedules and conducts presentations about programs.
  • Maintains accurate records of all prospecting/follow-up activities including: cold calls, presentations, contracts, and follow-up activities.
  • Develops/updates database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face to face meetings, cold calling, social media marketing, email, and networking.

Managing Accounts:

  • Updates and maintains employer client files and database.
  • Analyzes client needs and provides effective solutions.
  • Promotes unique solutions to meet each client’s individual needs.
  • Proactively addresses problems and ensures timely resolution of customer concerns.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education and/or Experience: Associate degree and a minimum of three years relevant experience generating new accounts and maintaining accounts in both private and public sectors. A proven successful track record of relationship building and leveraging new/existing business relationships to procure additional opportunities.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license required along with reliable transportation
  • Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet search engines, and Outlook.

  • Job Knowledge: Demonstrated ability to research and develop leads, make cold calls, foster innovation, and follow up on contacts. Ability to effectively promote and educate the public on services available to customers.

  • Integrity/Ethics: Demonstrates high level of integrity and ethics.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and meet goals in a fast paced, changing environment with minimal supervision.
  • Initiative: Ability to work independently, successfully achieving results with minimal supervision. Ability to independently set and exceed goals.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated skill working in a team environment, understanding when and how to effectively incorporate a team approach.
  • Position based in Utica.
  • Salary negotiable based on business to business experience.
  • Benefits starting ASAP.
  • 35 hour work week.
  • Two weeks’ vacation.
  • 14 paid holidays.
