The ideal candidate will have solid PLC programming experience, with some process engineering/ process improvement potential for their industrial process. Very open to considering bright graduates.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as process engineer for equipment utilized and process technology
- Lead projects and project teams to complete assigned projects such as installing, testing and operating equipment, and replacing or customizing current or new equipment
- Responsible for control systems: maintain PLC source code, troubleshoot any control system source code, wiring or PLC/SCADA logic issues
- Troubleshoot, spec and maintain process instrumentation
- Work closely with Process Technicians and Shift Leads in the safe and consistent operation of the manufacturing lines to produce quality and consistent product
- Design and execute process development experiments developed with the technical team
- Facilitate and support the safe and reliable operation of the facility
- Monitoring of equipment – including regular testing and ensuring maintenance tasks are carried out
- Completion of documentation to show and ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations and protocols
- Oversight of processes and working to maintain optimization of the production line
- Assisting Process Technicians in troubleshooting in the event of a problem
- Data collection, interpretation and report writing
- Presentation of data and reports to senior colleagues and management
- Actively participate in safety meetings and identify areas for continuous improvement
- Update current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and initiate new SOPs
Requirements:
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Candidate must have 5+ years of experience, including experience in process controls and process engineering (within commercial or pilot facilities)
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC’s or other logic based controllers
- Familiarity with Profibus instruments and troubleshooting
- Previous pilot, demonstration and/or commercial plant experience
- Experience in pulp and paper, chemical or pharma industry preferred
- Solids and slurry feeding/handling
- Pumps
- Filtration, solid/liquid separation
- Previous project management experience managing projects from design to implementation
- Experience with Safe Operating Practices and coaching teams of operators/maintenance personnel to achieve goals
- Strong troubleshooting skills – ability to troubleshoot equipment failures to minimize plant downtime
