Responsibilities
The Clinical Laboratory / Medical Technologist will work Regular Full-Time Monday to Friday, 12:30PM - 11PM with rotating Weekends/Holidays.
As measured by direct or indirect supervisory observation and/or co-worker feedback, the Clinical Laboratory (CLT) / Medical Technologist (MT) demonstrates skills in the following duties and responsibilities. Examples of these include but are not limited to the following areas of responsibility listed below.
MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST DUTIES:
The Clinical Laboratory (CLT) / Medical Technologist (MT) performs and verifies (reports) laboratory tests and/or prepares products for transfusion on acceptable specimens.
Laboratory test results need to be technically accurate and medically reliable, in accordance with established procedures and protocols, and available in a timely manner.
Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. All candidates who accept an offer from Bassett Healthcare Network will be required to show proof of vaccination as required by New York State.
Education:
Candidates must be qualified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in accordance with New York State Department of Health regulations.
Licensure/Certificates:
Licensure by NYS SED as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, required. Or licensure- eligible with a limited permit or limited license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Limited Permit is granted to individuals that meet the educational requirements for licensure except for the licensing examination which must be taken within one year from the issuance of a limited permit.
Experience:
Experience in a standard laboratory methodology, required.
Previous clinical laboratory experience, preferred.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail, precision, and commitment to accuracy are essential.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Ability to build rapport quickly, develop trust, sustain working relationships, and represent LFH positively in internal and external meetings is required.
Strong time-management and organizational skills are required.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to, Excel, Word, and Power Point, preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires extensive standing, routine walking, occasional sitting, and some repetitive hand motions.
Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs and lift objects of up to 50 lbs is occasionally required.
Position includes exposure to moving electro-mechanical parts, some loud noises, and infectious substances.
Position requires extensive close visual work, requiring visual acuity.
Position requires some telephone communication, requiring the ability to listen and respond clearly.
Some laboratory tests performed are dependent on color determination. Ability to differentiate colors is required to perform these tests.
