DFAS Seminar in Rome

Summary: Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information. Responsibilities: provides general and detailed information on all facets of travel pay and delivery of travel payments made by DFAS. Responds to inquiries of a complex and routine nature which includes current entitlement issues, allowable expenses, and documentation requirements; determines the cause(s) and takes corrective action for all discrepancies. Explains clearly, accurately and concisely to customers in layman's terms the outcome of research, decisions, options or timeframes required to accomplish the specific steps to bring a customer's concern to closure. Reviews and analyzes complex travel documents to verify applicability and mathematical accuracy. Manipulates data to the applicable entitlement system(s) to resolve customer concerns. Researches, evaluates and coordinates corrective action as needed to ensure accurate and complete electronic funds transfer (EFT) settlements to financial institutions. Requirements/Conditions of Employment: one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-04) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: experience applying regulations, policies and procedures governing pay and other types of transactions sufficient to convey information to customers and other interested parties.
