Carpenters Apprenticeship Test and Interviews - May 30th

Representatives of the New England Regional Council of Carpenters will be at Utica Working Solutions, 207 Genesee Street, 2nd Floor on Thursday May 30th from 9 am to 1 pm conducting testing and interviews for Carpenters’ Apprentices.

Apprentice Carpenter
The Northeast Carpenters Apprenticeship Program will conduct an ongoing recruitment for 20 Carpenter Apprentices. Learn to be a carpenter in commercial construction trade. On-the-job training allows you to work and learn to develop your skills. Various job locations. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and have a HS diploma or GED, a valid driver license and reliable transportation to and from statewide work sites. Use of hand tools/power tools. Must provide own hand tools. Will be working outside in all types of conditions. Must pass DRUG TEST. Employment test: NYS Apprenticeship Math Aptitude Test (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, decimals, reading a tape measure, etc.). Must join union. Full time, work hours vary. Workdays are Monday to Friday. Overtime. Related experience accepted. Trainee accepted. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be physically able to perform the work required as determined by the applicant attesting to the required qualifications as listed on the Apprentice Application. Must have reliable transportation to and from work & school. If applicant is a veteran, a copy of DD 214 is required after offer of employment or indenture. Must take a UBC qualifying test which includes: Conversion from fraction to decimal and decimal to fraction; Multiplication of large numbers and decimals; Division of large numbers; Adding and subtracting large numbers, adding and subtracting fractions, adding and subtracting with parenthesis, adding and subtracting feet and inches, and adding and subtracting decimals; Finding the average of numbers; Finding the perimeter; Reading measurements on a ruler and reducing measurement to the lowest term. A study guide will be provided to all applicants. Use of a calculator is permitted during the test. Must take a drug test provided by the Apprentice Program, upon acceptance and paid for by the Northeast Carpenters' Apprenticeship Program.

CANDIDATES MAY APPLY IN PERSON AT UTICA WORKING SOLUTIONS, 207 GENESEE STREET 2ND FLOOR, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:30 AM AND 3:30 PM. YOU WILL NEED A PHOTO ID TO ENTER THE BUILDING. YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WITH AN APPLICATION TO COMPLETE AND SUBMIT. YOU WILL ALSO BE GIVEN A STUDY GUIDE FOR THE REQUIRED APPRENTICESHIP MATH TEST.
