AmeriCorps Virtual Recruitment Fair Thursday
The Utica Municipal Housing Authority will sponsor a virtual AmeriCorps Recruitment Fair on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. People need to attend only one of the three sessions.
Members of AmeriCorps, the domestic equivalent of the Peace Corps program, commit a year of service to help others and receive a living allowance and scholarship assistance. The recruitment fair will provide information about requirements, qualifications, and other details of the open positions as well as how to apply. AmeriCorps members will start their term of services by January 31. Both full and part-time as well as day/evening positions are available.
The UMHA urges applicants to email their resumes before the recruitment fair to
applyamericorps@gmail.com. The virtual job fair link is:

AmeriCorps members devote a year of their lives to make a difference in the community. Approximately 75,000 Americans of all ages participate in AmeriCorps each year. In the UMHA program, AmeriCorps members help people get out of poverty through job and career training, homeless and housing assistance, and teaching money management skills. The program also help disabled youths learn independent living skills and prepare for careers. Other members help veterans and immigrants/refugees connect to available resources.
AmeriCorps members earn a modest living stipend and may earn an education award upon completion of their term of service. Childcare assistance and health insurance may be available. AmeriCorps does not affect eligibility for SNAP, public housing, and Section 8. The program offers professional training, mentoring, and an opportunity to obtain hands-on experience in the helping professions. AmeriCorps is ideal for recent college graduates, retirees, and people interested in gaining job experience.
Members may also apply online through
