Alice Savino, Executive Director of the Workforce Development Board, and Franca Armstrong, Associate Vice President of Workforce Development and Dean of MVCC Rome Campus, recently guest wrote an opinion piece in the Utica Observer-Dispatch titled "Adapting to change critical for future workforce". The article ran in conjunction with the job fair held at Mohawk Community College for Manufacturing Day on October 18, 2019.
The piece discusses such ideas as "connecting the region’s education providers with employers and labor organizations is critical to build a sustainable workforce pipeline. In recent years, the manufacturing industry has changed dramatically, both in terms of expanding technology and the need for a workforce well versed in science, technology, engineering and math. The Mohawk Valley is well-suited for the challenge".
